As of a few minutes ago (evidently), there is a tentative agreement between the producers and the writers for the next three years. The agreement still needs to be ratified by the membership, but (evidently) it looks like a strike has been averted.

This is incredibly good news for far more families, industry-wide, than most people could probably understand (it includes the entire industry, both above- and below-the line, plus all of the subsidiary businesses like agencies, costumers, providers of period cars, prop companies, etc., because a strike by the writers means that the entire industry shuts down).

The last strike was brutal to everyone and the effects were lasting (to right now, today), and this very much included my family.

Many thanks to everyone on both sides...

...a new Agreement for the next three years is WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!

EDITED TO ADD...I just realized: I did not explain that "the industry" includes (most importantly), "all" (with very few exceptions) the films and television programs produced in the United States.

I'm glad to hear of it, Tevai. My good friend's daughter is a writer. That will be welcome news for her.

I'm happy for you, Tevai.

We don't realize perhaps how much this affects millions, through the ripple effect.

Mazel tov!

I'm also glad it's been averted as it's not just the writers who would have been hit hard, but everyone else who works in the entertainment industry behind the scenes. In California especially, the industry is one of the reasons it's the seventh largest economy in the world. The last writer's strike caused the state's economy to take a big hit during the recession.
