I have saved over $100,000 by leaving the LDS Church

Has anyone else figured out what they have saved by leaving Mormonism? I would still be over my head in debt with no prospects for retirement if I had stayed LDS.

We are over 500k saved if we include moderate potential interest earned but not more missions, etc. Wow. You made my day!

No, but I am sure it runs into the thousands of dollars. We were over $20,000 in credit card debt paying tithing and living in very modest circumstances just as we do today.

My wife and I paid off our mortgage with a very few years of not paying tithing. Now we travel and have fun with our "raise."

I do not believe the Corporation of the President would have used the money better than I have.

I get an annual notice from the Social Security Administration that shows my entire lifetime's earnings as reported on my income tax (it lets me know how much SS I'll get when I retire).

Based on that, using my reported income since leaving at 21, I've saved just about $1M by not paying 10% to the cult.

It's been put to much better uses, that I promise :)
