Hi, everyone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcdpUu7jPJY

My wife and I recently started binge-watching HBO's "Big Love". We're obsessed. We wanted to understand the symbolism of the intro credits. The final part where the four of them occupy a planet makes sense, but we're questioning the segment where they're looking for each other through the cloth curtains (1:02 in the clip). Is this the "through the veils" concept of heaven/temple?

Love me some Big Love.

I loved the theme song.

Then it changed.

Loved that one too.

It looks like it could be the concept of "through the veil" since right after they "find" each other, they're on their own plant ("Celestial Kingdom").

I still have yet to see that show. I'm actually curious about the "Three Wives, One Husband" show about the Fundamentalist Mormons at Rockland Ranch. That show was aired in the UK, so I can't seem to access it here in the US.

You should find it and watch it. It was excellent.

I think it's wild that the vast majority of people (hundreds of millions) around the world who watched this show are completely obvious to the Mormon details.

Yes. Hubby pulls woman through the veil and into the Celestial Kingdom.

D&C 132 says man will only be an angel in the CK if not polygamous.

Some of the best television I've ever seen as I'm very much into ensemble acting.
Matt Ross is now one of my favorite artists and the relationship he has with Harry Dean Stanton is worth the five seasons in itself.

Joe Darger was the inspiration for Big Love. Now, He's running for Mayor or Herriman, a suburb od Salt Lake County. You can't make this shit up!

Viagra Bill was superbly portrayed.

My favorite episode was midway through the first year when Bill and Barb reignite their first love and carry on an exclusionary 'affair'.

Favorite scene featured Jean Tripplehorn frantically stripping down to her bra and panties to get at Bill. It was steaming hot.

Glad they didn't put any garments in the scene.

I binge watched it (with an old friend who turned me on to RFM, 2012-2014, laughing at all things Mormon for a long time now) and always looked forward to seeing a few more episodes each opportunity.

I think I'd like to see it again someday (maybe in the '20s).

Some crazy morMon stuff!

The opening songs, as per yesterday's comment:

Season 1-3:
"God Only Knows" - The Beach Boys

I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I'll make you so sure about it

God only knows what I'd be without you
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

God only knows what I'd be without you

Season 4 and 5:
"Home" - Engineers

What a show - not what I'd expected, hearing of it for three years before finally watching it.

P. S. You think spellcheck is busy. You should see me picking up (editing) after it.

The HBO TV series "Big Love" has done some serious damage to the PR image of MORmONISM. Horrendous damage, worse than Ed Decker, worse than RFM which is considerable, probably worse than any one since Joe Smith and Brigham Young or even Gordon Hinckley.

Dustin Lance Black was a big time writer and contributor to Big Love. Since LDS Inc could not ex com DLB, they were forced to resort to other methods.

So IF a person is a MORmON member who ends up going against the grain of what LDS Inc wants, that person can expect to be disciplined (punished) severely as in kicked out.

If a person is a NON member who does massive damage to LDS Inc PR causes then that person can expect to be given privileged treatment by LDS Inc, IF that damage is extensive enough.

Loved the early part of the opening credits...one wife at a time in a choreographed skating scene followed by all three together which turns into skating on thin ice.

Also, Big Love has the best final episode ending of a series I have ever seen. No spoilers, but I was stunned and deeply moved.

Just started the 4th(!) season. Different intro credits consisting of Bill, Barb, Nicki, and Marge lost/floating through darkness.

Is the implication here that they've been cast into Outer Darkness?
