Is It True?

Rumor has it that the Fearless Leaders are ' Giving Up' on their former titles, because titles "Prophets, Seers, and Revelators" are no longer relevant, germain, or even P.C.;

this started, btw, with addressing the Grand Poo-Bah as "President __________" which occurred starting a few years ago.

Rumor is ... the starting next GC, they'll be sustained as "President (name of occupant), Policy Wonks, and Ageeeers"

Has anyone else received this memo?

Those fake titles always cracked me up since I never saw them doing any propheting or seeing or revelating.

Other than Joseph Smith, the presidents of LDS Inc were referred to as President ------- until the time of David O McKay when members and publications started referring to the current president as prophet. Even then (and now) when referring to the PSR by name, he is still addressed as President Monson (or whomever).

It didn't start a few years ago. It started with Brother Brigham

But surely Heidi Swinton will soon fix that with her newest book, to be published as soon as TSM kicks the bucket. It will have no end of spiritual manifestations, superhuman wisdom and 100% accurate prognostications by the new President. Then it will be expected by TBMs that they refer to the new guy as a prophet, whose protestations of mere humanity will be immediately recognized by all right-seeing Mormons as the epitome of Godly humility.

She probably has the book written already, only awaiting the official announcement so she can hurry and fill in the blank spaces with the new guy's name.

Did you know that there are 500 prophets in the evangelical groups? Occupational competition, what can I say more? The top cult folks never prophesied anything in my 36 years in the joint. So, why pretend any longer?
