Why is this Weinstein such a big news item?

Seems that for decades there were underlying rumors that women got coveted roles in movies via the 'casting couch'.

Seems that the reality is only now becoming to the surface is a bit late and only self serving for someone unknown right now.

Big news because it has become political. He gave money to Democrats so the reasoning seems to be Democrats are sympathizers and the money he gave is somehow guilty, too. If the money was a gun and he had shot people it would be no fault of the gun.

Let’s hope Weinstein isn’t used as the scapegoat, the whipping boy for the ongoing evil of the casting couch. Just as Cosby was far from the only predator among his cohort, Weinstein is far from being the only producer / studio magnate type to demand sex for access.

Let’s hope this can change how Hollywood goes about its business. This stuff has been enabled long enough.

Weinstein richly deserves what is happening to him and what is going to happen to him in the future. It's a massive public fall from prominence and power.

Smith is getting his now too, except it took about 150 years among his tiny group of followers.

Meanwhile, little brother Bob has come out by saying his brother abused him for years. And for years his family had been begging him to get help.

Bob wasn't aware of Harvey's supposed philandering other than he knew he was having adulterous affairs.

That's something Harvey nor Joseph shared in common - was a brother who was an enabler.

Most women and girls ACCEPTED the sexual advances of Joseph Smith. He was handsome and in shape, and a "Rock Star" to Mormon.

Weinstein is physically repulsive (correct me ladies, if I am wrong here), but he had "power" and "money". Now women LOVE power and money. However, since Weinstein was already married, they probably rightly figured he didn't want to marry them.

Both men are sexual predators. I knew TWO sexual predator Mormon males. Both were handsome. Both were overwhelming successful at getting sex from young, active, attracting Mormon women and girls. Even with money and power, Harvey was not very successful, because he is so repulsive. Yet, he married a beautiful women for a wife. Wonder how that happened??? Note: just kidding. I KNOW how that happened.

I'd correct you on the part in that Joseph represented both power and money to the women he molested.

He also imposed fear into them by invoking the wrath of God if they would not capitulate to his demands.

That's the worst kind of manipulation by a cult leader, next to murder.

He took everything they had materially, and then stole their chastity from them.

Weinstein is a repulsive figure indeed.

I feel the same about Joseph. Physically they may have been worlds apart. Inwardly they were both ravening wolves. The difference between them is merely size. Joseph was just a smaller scale of what Harvey looked like. Joseph, like Harvey, was addicted to sex, money, and power.

I'm not even sure Joseph was in all that good of shape considering he delegated all physical jobs to those around him. He didn't build buildings, churches, or houses. His followers did. He was good at taking their monies and all they owned as consecrated offerings by his chicanery. He was a grifter/con artist because he detested physical labor. He didn't want to have to work for an honest living.

So he swindled people instead. That takes a certain kind of laziness to do what he did. He had the smarts and ability to have made an honest living, but chose not to.

Would Emma have married Joseph knowing what he was really about? It is doubtful. Same for Harvey's wife, Georgina. Once the SHTF, she doesn't want to be anywhere near him - who can blame her? Even trophy wives have their limits.

Harvey, like Joseph, is a very sick man. That they have very much in common.

Some of their sexual exploits were 'consensual,' but I don't believe even Joseph's were so easy. If that were so he would not have threatened eternal death and damnation to those girls and women he sought out. He was their "prophet." How could they say no to God?

Both men instilled great fear in their victims in order to get their way with them. How many rape charges would Joseph be charged with today were he to be prosecuted for rape? Counting the minors those would be statutory rape. I haven't heard Harvey raped minors. That's another difference between them. Joseph went for young adolescent girls, most of whom were either orphaned with inheritances, or had dowries their families had given them to provide for them that Joseph stole for himself.

The perpetrators almost always continue abuse if they think they can get away with it.
