I’d give 10% of my dead rats to the church.

Cool. I used to water ski in the calm waters of the bayous. Our concerns were gators and water moccasins. Swimming rats were no big deal.

They keep the gators and snakes fed.

Yuck, I wonder what kind of rifle they use. I'm glad I don't live there. The Wild feral hogs creep me out too. Luckily you can kill them freely.I wouldn't eat either one. Pet rats are cute though. I love dumbo and fancy rats. They are very smart, easy to train and affectionate. They're nothing like wild or sewer rats, a different family actually. I don't know about mice, never had them as pets, they're not as cute and they do bite, tame rats don't.

years ago. They used chopped-up, frozen bits of nutria to lure the 'gators to the surface.

Sometimes, we would see nutria run over on the road. I thought that they looked like the gophers from Hell.

Nutria were a problem in Texas in the 1960s, and maybe still are although I haven't heard anything about it lately. They burrow into the earthen dams of ranch water ponds or "tanks" and cause a lot of difficulties. They also like golf course water hazards, and can travel miles overland from one body of water to another. They're very prolific and the females are basically pregnant all the time. Maybe they've been reading LDS doctrine.
