My wife and I have a new Netflix binge - "Greenleaf", an excellent series from the Oprah Winfrey Network centered around a powerful black family that owns and operates a megachurch in Memphis.

I'm finding that my experience with this forum has in a way prepped me for this series. Issues like tithing, worthiness, homosexuality, youth indoctrination, misogyny, "keeping up with the Joneses", etc. are explored in detail.

It's wild to think that some of the pressures felt by African Americans parallel those of Mormons (minus the fact that their churches pay their choir teachers).
