None of those kind, wonderful people have ever told me (or that I know of, said to the press) that god told them (via voices, etc.) to do so. They may refer to or quote the bible, but that's not the same thing :)
Quote from a forensic psychologist re: these nutballs in Perris:
"Large families do tend either to be chaotic or to develop formal, often ritualistic, processes to manage day to day activities. Is it possible that, as the Turpins’ finances cycled ever more out of control, they became increasingly coercive in their attempts handle the situation they had created for themselves?"
The photos of the family have the faces of the kids blurred, but their arms and legs look normal, not skeleton like. One of the boys is almost as tall as his father, so normal height growth probably.
It looks like the starvation stuff just started since the last time the grandparents visited, which was 5 years ago or so.
But their neighbors said they didn't even know kids lived there. So apparently they've been living in prison conditions since they moved to that house.
Strange that the oldest who was 29 was still under their control. My cousin who had 11 kids encouraged his oldest boys to get out asap and earn money so they could help support the younger ones.
