Does anyone know of leadership flip-flops on the "negro question"?

Specifically what I mean is: is there evidence of LDS big-wigs being paternalistic and demeaning about "the curse" before the lifting of the priesthood ban, but after 1979 (because "god" said so) being all lovey-dovey and putting their previous their previous (and obviously racist) views down the Memory Hole?
