None of the news is getting out of Utah in the national press. I was surprised when it took the SLT an entire 2 days to report it. This whole thing is going to die in a short amount of time. The rest of the nation could care less about this.

This is a big deal and the timing is bad for the church. Even if the mega-press didn't mention it, the church members would--and there are a lot of people who believe in the religion but think these abuse issues are important.

Can you imagine the anger at, and after, conference if they ignore the issue? Sam Young says abuse is a problem, Bishop proves it is a problem, and the church does nothing?

It will be interesting to see what they do. They really need to change the subject.

Will the new policy be enough? At least it gives church representatives talking points. The Trib interviews the Newsroom and they say, "sexual abuse is a horrible thing. Now let's talk about our awesome new interview policy to protect kids."

I do not think they will excommunicate Young anytime soon. They'll want distance between the Bishop scandal and Young's demise.
