Why do Mormons claim that 0.21% of the World Population is Mormon?

A quarter of a % is very small, but I suspect that it's far lower. Most people who get baptized disappear after a short time.

Well, assuming half of their claimed 16 million are "actual" mormons (I know, too generous, but what the heck...)

8M is 0.11% of the world's population. Not 0.21%.

Which basically means that for every 10,000 people in the world, 11 are mormons.

Yeah, that's really winning the world over. Yep.

It's all PR hype. No real source of their statistics, just like no real disclosure of its financials.

Mormons don't pay those fancy Madison Avenue ad agencies the big bucks for nothing!

They want to feel better about themselves, and/ or their cult/ following/ 'practice'.

They don't KNOW anything.
They just believe (it's got to get bigger every day).

Mormons are near 2% of the US population. If you count only active Mormons, it's more like 1%, but claiming 2% is not laughably inaccurate.

To claim 2% of the world population is Mormon simply means that person can't do the math. That is, unfortunately, all too common.

I haven't heard them claim a certain percentage. Most know the numbers are low but it's because only a select few can handle being a member of the one true church. That's what I've heard.

There are roughly as many Mormons as there are Jews in the world.

I thought how ironic. Out of all the odds I might have been born either, and I was born both.
