First, this article is nonsense. The author advocates suffering to pay tithing and then writes up a whole part about not letting yourself suffer (from spiritual self-abuse not starvation.)
The article goes round and round the Mormon-go-round about non-issues and un-problems like beating yourself up for not giving "10 percent" of yourself to church work. I mean really? You think you are spiritually abusing yourself when it is the church but not when it is the laundry you are avoiding?
But the big gun the author brings to this article gave me chills. A woman entrenched in a sexist patriarchy is a licensed counselor specializing in female abuse? REALLY? God. That is terrible. It is like worrying about female hygiene for your young daughter and taking her to a woman doctor who advocates female circumcision to help your daughter.
"Author’s Note: I want to thank Peggy McFarland, a licensed LDS counselor, for her help on this article, and for the help she has given me in my life. She has been a good friend for many years. She has recently moved to Nampa, Idaho, and specializes in girls and women’s abuse issues."
