They succeeded in getting legislation passed for recognizing climate change. It took two years of spearheading legislation through the House and Senate. Finally, in March of this year, Governor Herbert signed it. Per CNN,
"The resolution is not a law, but a statement "emphasizing that protection of our environment and investment in our community are not mutually exclusive," in [Piper] Christian's own words."
Our children represent the future. For Utah it is encouraging to see such civic mindedness by what otherwise is considered a silent majority of its juvenile population. They have a voice!
They may well be the change of TSCC in the future. As they advocate for change and improving their environment, they may become advocates in their religious life communities for progress and change.
And that's encouraging in a bigly way! :)
