I don't know if it's possible to elevate a foodstuff to the level of idolatry, but if it is, I would have to say I worship and idolize Serrano ham. Double-whammy, that, as it's both the object of my worship AND an example of perfectly porcine goodness.

Then there are the musicians. I definitely worship Billie Joe Armstrong. Also Pete Townshend.

I definitely idolize my mom. She's awesome!

As Yahweh said, "he" is a jealous God. So, f*** Him. Who would want to worship such a petty dictator? Especially when there's ham to be had!

BWAHAHAHA! Good one, jon!

I have to say, I have no qualms about turning dark & loathsome, so long as there are pork products involved. :)

As a teen of the 80's the "Idol" I worshiped was Billy. Now it is good beer, wine, and the NFL (Oilers/Titans). Mrs. jon1 won't allow it, but I could probably live the rest of my life on Jersy Mikes subs.

For those who are too young or old, Billy Idol was a singer in the 1980's, Rebel Yell, White Wedding, and all that....

Tell my generation that he's who they based "Spike" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer on, and they get the picture ;)

Younger then that, and you're on your own...

but greatly value (much more than I did when I thought they were GOD-GIVEN TALENTS) human propensity for creating sublime music, evocative art and transcendent theatre... Human need to understand the universe and our place in it, no matter how insignificant... Innate drive to find truth...right-brained innovation...well, I could go on. Humans are sometimes despicable and endearingly tender and an enigma.

Yes. I understand, crazydaze. Which is why I specifically said, "F*** YHWH".

Personally, my favorite take on YHWH is the Kabbalistic take that "He" is the demi-urge. A "god" so stupid and vain that he doesn't even realize he does not sit atop the god pyramid. Rather, he was created by this world's "real god", but he doesn't know "they" exist.

BTW, it's this jealous, petty, dictatorial demi-urge who creates evil done in this world.

Just FYI. Personally, I have no problem with you being a believer. Do whatever you think best for your life. But quoting the Decalogue to an atheist is pointless, as it has no religious meaning to me at all.

Sorry.
