Best line in the comments (paraphrasing)

BYU police want to have their doughnuts and eat them, too.

Huh, rape enablers protecting rapists, merely because they're penisholders, go figure. I never would have expected this in an abusive Doomsday sex CULT that sings the praises of a rapist. /sarcasm
Nothing about LDS Inc surprises me any more.

While we're on this subject, let me share a few things.

We are all for looking at both sides of an issue, as opposed to the way TBMs view things.

We also believe that people should have a fair shot at justice.

But it looks like most of the media jumps on the rape bandwagon whenever they can. Which results in cases like the Duke lacrosse team being falsely accused and publicly harassed. And Rolling Stone magazine having to retract their story after claiming U. of Virginia guys raped. Rolling Stone is now being sued.

So some things about the Denson story that few want to discuss.
Not sure how true they are, but they should be considered.

Denson has made at least 2 other allegations of rape that were false.

Denson is under investigation for identity fraud in Arizona.

Denson made false claims about being locked in a trunk outside a job where she was fired.

Bishop had a heart procedure a few days prior to her interview of him, and he was on medication.

In Denson's interview of Bishop, she says he didn't penetrate her because he didn't have an erection. In her lawsuit, she says he briefly penetrated her with a semi-erect penis.
31. Instead of allowing her to leave, BISHOP got in front of DENSON, physically blocking her from the door. He then pushed her back on the bed, grabbed her blouse and tore it open. BISHOP then pulled DENSON’S skirt up, tearing the seam in the back. He pulled her pantyhose and garments down. He exposed himself and briefly penetrated her with his semi-erect penis. During this time, DENSON attempted to push him off, kicking and hitting him. He forced her back down, restraining her with his palms on her shoulders. Eventually, she was able to kick free and pull her garments and hose up enough to get out the door. As DENSON was leaving the room, BISHOP shouted that no one would believe her, saying “Look at you, look at me.”
Seems it would be hard to achieve penetration given her fighting and being semi-erect. Also they discussed in the interview how small a man he is.

Then you have to wonder where she went in the MTC with torn clothing.

Anyway, it could have happened, but seems we need to be more open-minded than TBMs and not jump to conclusions just because we want to believe.

Oh, sh*t. This is really going to feed TSCC’s persecution complex. No wonder they’re digging in.

"BYU police voluntarily released a redacted police report, which detailed Joseph L. Bishop admitting to officers that he took a young woman into a small room at the Provo campus in 1984 and asked to see her breasts."

Details can be quibbled over, and it's not surprising that details might be a bit inconsistent after 37 years...

But he confessed to the "main event." And other evidence makes it abundantly clear that the church, BYU police, and others participated in covering it up when it occurred.

Justice is what you are looking for, right?

Cover for the reputation of an abusive misogynistic asshole while trashing a woman who has lived a life that was guided and directed by abusive misogynistic assholes.

I see the justice here.

A woman who desires acknowledgement and little else will get thrown to the dogs by the very people who abused her.

Your justice sucks.

Free Man,

This thread was not really about Denson. It was about disclosure by the BYU police. When you write "while we are on the topic" and then launch into a personal attack on Denson, you are hijacking the thread for your own purposes. There is nothing wrong with that, but I do wonder why Denson's story triggers you so profoundly.

Your feelings about her also distort your reading of the facts. On the central issue, you write that in her interview with Benson "she says he didn't penetrate her."

That is false. She clearly didn't understand the legal definition of "rape," didn't know that any penetration at all meets that definition. At no point, however, did she say that "he didn't penetrate her." To the contrary, the Mormonleaks transcript shows that she characterized the event by saying that he couldn't "get a full erection" and consequently "couldn't completely penetrate" her.

That matters for two reasons. First, what she was legally rape. Second, there is no contradiction between the interview transcript and the court filing. The transcript's "incomplete penetration" is perfectly consistent with the suit's "brief" penetration." You are wrong when you claim that her story has changed.

I really can't understand why this woman's story bothers you so much. Why do you feel it necessary to defend Bishop, a man who has admitted to almost everything Denson alleges?
