I just read this in the Tribune—BYU is filing lawsuits to prevent open access to their police records regarding the questioning of Bishop’s sexual activities while he was the MTC President.

First, given the recent horrific scandal of Catholic priests in Pennsylvania, no matter how the Morg spins this, it will be viewed as an attempted coverup.

Second, the BYU Police need to have their Utah Peace Officers’ status revoked. If they aren’t going to abide by Utah’s GRAMA requirements, they have declared themselves a non-public entity. They need to be on same the status as private security companies without ANY legal public policing status.

Maybe it’s time for the Church of Jesus Christ (snicker) to realize how incredibly stupid spending millions on PR and re-branding is when they openly sanction secrecy.

It doesn't surprise me the lengths they go to keep liability at bay. No transparency = no accountability.

There must be some secretly anti-[long]s in the BYU bureaucracy that are trying to undermine this great work of ours to show the world that we have the most honest/transparent Church, i.e. a true Church, ever. You can bet your testimony that the great holy prophets Nelson/Oaks/Eyring along with Ballard and the other 11 sacred men will quickly and soon make it unambiguously clear that such cover ups are unacceptable :) Otherwise people might start to have some doubts form in their minds that the Church really isn't true.

They wouldn't have to spin, duck, and cover if they would just refute the statement: "the church doesn't apologize" from non other than Mr. Dallin Oaks.
