The Divorce case was filed last week in Utah County, Case No. 184100161.

We shall see what it uncovers. I'm thinking they might have a secret settlement already to keep from making allegations public, but we shall see as its a new filing so far.

I’m pulling for apostasy.

So, earthly divorce and a canceled sealing...

So so many steps to that must be taken.

Remember, the church explicitly said it wasn't apostasy. And notice that HE filed it, he is the petitioner! Maybe it was just hormones and a new love in his life?

I hope his new love is a guy.

I don't remember the forum in which I read this, but Hamula's exing was due to an affair. IIRC, it was his brother who wrote it.

The wife's brother wrote a FB post soon after the excommunication. He said he needed to be respectful of the privacy of his sister and the children but that the reason was not apostasy. He never said "affair."

I'm betting money its a gay affair.

Had to look him up as I don't keep up to date on LDS stuff.
1st Quorum of Seventy - exed last Aug.

"The church confirmed to CNN affiliate KSTU-TV that Hamula's dismissal was not because of apostasy, or an abandonment of religious beliefs, but did not elaborate on why he was being dismissed. Mormon experts said excommunications are rare, and that former Mormons may be accepted back into the church through repentance and rebaptism."
https://www.cnn.com/2017/08/09/us/mormon-leader-james-j-hamula-excommunicated-28-years/index.html

As I'm out of the loop, is he going for rebaptism?

The divorce puts a new kink in the works.

We'll see if there is a new honey in the picture that he wants to marry.

If he's like many ex-ed divorced mormon men, you will see a marriage license application in the next 30 days.

Mormonism's job is to make sure if something bad happens to
someone, they're there to make it worse.

That's why they need to stick to their tried and true practice of calling only men who are sore on the eyes, unlike Hamula, to be GAs. Way less liklihood any woman would lure them to the dark side.

Personally, didn't think he was good looking.

My Gaydar immediately pinged when I saw his Photo, I too would bet money it was a gay affair.

Interesting fact. Served a mission to Germany. He was born in 1957. Married in the temple in 1984
Things went bad in a hurry. He was exed in Aug 2017, divorcing nearly a year later.

My error... reading too fast... Father was a convert. after serving in the Navy.

started happening, I had my gaydar go off, too, but I know I can't be sure.

The thing that caught my attention today was he was born in 1957 and married in 1984. So were both my ex and I, same years. Just something I took note of.

The exit was likely about Money. See kiwimormon’s blog posts from 2017 about “irregularities” with finances in the church n New Zealand

OH? Criminal behavior? That puts a whole new wrinkle on it. Can you get a better reference?

I searched her blog list for 2017 and found only one possible entry, about finances in the countries where the church had to register as a charity. But then I didn't listen to the interview. Nothing in the 21 comments hinted at 'possible criminal/improper activity'...

You mean a "sacred settlement." Possibly blessed by some PR protection grease money from LDS, Inc. with a confidentiality clause with its accompanying name, sign and penalty.

I would be very surprised if it were financial.

My money is on an affair(s) with a woman (women) or man (men). Anyone involved could be 'bought off'.
