Many protestant or other evangelical churches have tea and coffee or hot chocolate to entertain members and guests after their church services.Would this be a good idea to mainstream?
Poor Heavenly Father is already having to spend lots of money on chapels as it is. If people were to start using the kitchen to make drinks and snacks for members/visitors to socialize after meetings then the equipment would get more worn-out, carpets would have more crumbs, and we'd have more wear/tear on the buildings. Then there would be less money for important sacred priorities like City Creek. This whole idea of snacks/drinks sounds like an anti-Mormon, ummmm I mean anti-[long], idea to slow the growth rate of Heavenly Father's sacred bank accounts.
Mormon members are supposed to listen to instructions. The exchange of ideas is discouraged--especially Sunday discussions about religion! This would never happen!
At one time, there was a linger longer that was offered after the 3 hour block. My Mom is very health conscious so she would prepare a veggie platter for sharing. It turns out that she would return home with the plate virtually intact. She told me that someone had brought cans of spaghetti-os and it was gone in five minutes.
