THIS is great. Must listen [OP didn't say it, but I will-did]! Know six to nine tenths of this but, still interesting, factual and useful (information), for whatever reason, despite the sound (recording) quality, especially of the interviewee, and the typical dullness of mormonism. Here goes an hour of tonight's sleep. Why did I look again at RFM, and see this post, and click, and now comment? I ask myself these questions... but I don't dare answer them.
Mormons don't know their history - most of it BORING and tainted and unholy - and THIS [type of (true) facts-history-TRUTHS] should be General (or more specifically, SPECIFIC) Conference.
This'll be shared. It's sharable. Would you like to [listen and] share?
I must say that the sound problems were all on my end, I am in NY and Bryce is out west in Seattle. It was a bitch to get it set up and working right, and that's the best he could do.
There are people at all stages of transitioning out and with varying degrees of knowledge in Mormon history. I studied my way through all this about 15-20 years ago. There is some occasional new information that comes up but most of it is a rehash of known sources.
I do appreciate the link to the "Naked Mormonism" discussion. This Johnny Stephenson guy has done a little more deconstructing of Mormonism and made some plausible conclusions about connections between what was going on in Josephs private affairs i.e. accusations of improprieties with the ladies and the timing of the revelations in the D&C. Perhaps the D&C could be a companion guide to the study of the history of what was going on at the time in J.S's life.
I haven't listened to the whole interview because I have so many competing interests and demands. What is you take away from listening to the discussion linked to?
