It encompasses all the various branches and off shoots of Joseph's church and includes any church that incorporates the Book of Mormon.

Its services include: (1) providing members with a sense of community and belonging to "something special"; (2) demanding money and free labor from members so that they feel like they're getting something valuable;(3) providing authority figures who can relieve the members of the burden of thinking for themselves and help the members avoid facing the disturbing fact that most of their deepest questions about things like the meaning of life, etc. will never actually be answered; (4) providing an update service whereby former comforting narratives that are no longer sustainable are deleted and replaced by newer narratives and patches so that the members' cognitive dissonance can benefit from stable management the eliminate troublesome dissonance spikes over the long term.
