I have been fascinated with the recent Russian lunar landing on the unexplored backside of the moon. I am anxiously awaiting the discovery of those Quakers who have been hiding out all these years. Old Joe is excited in his grave to hear the good news.

"As far back as 1837, I know that he [Joseph Smith] said the moon was inhabited by men and women the same as this earth, and that they lived to a greater age than we do -- that they live generally to near the age of a 1,000 years.

He described the men as averaging nearly six feet in height, and dressing quite uniformly in something near the Quaker style."

Didn't Buzz Aldrin bear his testimony to the truthfulness of that?

No? That wasn't him?

Didn't anyone ever ask what they ate, or how they obtained water, or where they grew cotton, or raised sheep, so they could make those near-Quaker style clothes?

Certainly the clearest thinking, and most intelligent, Mormons of all ages would have had these kinds of natural, common sense, questions--right?

It was China not Russia hence the new restaurant sign on the moon.

Good catch. It was China, not Russia. China is demonstrating the engineering and technical prowess it's achieved with the research they steal from us.

They didn’t steal it, we gave it to them. Including our jobs.

When I was a child there were a couple of old men in the Ward I grew up in who would testify nearly every fast Sunday that their patriarchal blessings promised that they would preach the gospel to the people who lived on the moon.

I'm quite sure those old fellas never got there though.

With the exception of Pink Floyd albums, there is no dark side of the moon.

I believe it was the Chinese that just landed a craft on far side of the moon, not the Russians…….

Has been a couple of decades ago now but that story got me in trouble in a Stake in Utah. Was teaching the missionary Prep class and we touched on questions/problems the missionaries would face in the field. Went outside the sappy/bland lesson to the real questions that would come up.

Joseph Smith and Zelph was one. An inhabited Moon was another. After the inhabited moon lesson two parents pulled their kids from the class and forbid them to have any contact with me as well as the co-instructor. "You can't teach my kid crap like this, it is an anti-mormon lie"! Somehow I hope the kids ran into folks in the mission field who brought it up.

Moved from that area not long after it happened so don't know how the kids did on the missions.
