... is the one that reads (paraphrase):

after you've corrected someone, show extra love afterwards.

IDK if this is an echo of another (Bible) scripture or teaching, but I find it refreshing, especially for parents & children...

I don't like it because as a convert everyone from the 19-y.o missionaries to the Senior Elders felt the right to correct me, and I certainly never felt any love afterwards.

I don't think the religion should give people the right to "correct" anyone...what if that person is just doing the best they can?

I was thinking more of parent-child relationships/situations.

I understand. My feelings are still raw from all the "corrections" that I received....

which made me want to babble: I have a successful career, I have advanced education, I can make my way through life, and you are treating me like a child!!!

Sorry GNPE.... ;)

Parents/ steparents oftentimes over-"correct" a child, insomuch so to make them run off track, venture inward/ outward, or even get lost.

I say show love always!
Never hide it or remove it.
Correcting correctly is cey.

In my growing-up days tscc spent a lot of time warning us about avoiding debt. I don't think it was doctrinally based but it seemed to be discussed a lot. I only ever had student loan and mortgage debt and paid those off ASAP. That served me well. Everything else was BS.

2 Timothy 2:23-26

23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Also Galatians 6:1, "restore such a man in the spirit of meekness."

I like the one that says if a bald man says there's no such thing as a Mormon, believe him not. For he is a false prophet that deceivth many, yeah even the very elect.

Mormon 8:32
In the last days, churches shall rise up and for your money they will offer you salvation.

So good. Also the whole Korihor story is a cautionary tale for non-believers. Remember when you are dealing with religious people in positions of political power to not confront them with their obvious influence to make misery upon people with their morals (ones Smith couldn't even uphold.)
