Moses was very cross when he came down from the mountain and found they were worshiping a golden calf.

If Moses appeared in the Mormon temple, how could he have failed to notice this?

As members, how did we not see that?

I honestly don't know how we didn't see that.

I suppose you could make the argument that we don't worship the bronze cattle statues, there are more decorative in nature. However, it is a nice irony.

'Cuz "calves" are young & don't have the horns; these are *adult* golden oxen. Totally legit.

TBMs for the win on a technicality! </s>

With the heads facing outward, the font truly hides all the bullshit.

It does seem odd that they would would use the imagery of the golden calf. I thought of that when I first saw the photo. Of course, I was just reading about Moses and the golden calf a few weeks ago, do it was still fresh in my mind

That is what happened to me too. Read Exodus and thought "Hang on!"

But they didn't, did they? They're not golden calves. They're bronze oxen.

And I don't recall worshiping them as a TBM. I just remember it was some symbol of something or other that never really mattered.

Not the same at all.

Both the tabernacle and temple of Moses time and by his revelation had brazen "sea" resting on the back of 12 cattle. Moses would be pleased.

The Hebrews used a portable tabernacle during Moses' period, an extravagant tent and enclosed compound. This sufficed until Solomon built the First Temple.

The Sea had nothing to do with baptism, a practice that came much later. It was a large basin for rinsing animal parts prior to being sacrificed (incinerated) or allocated for the priests' use (personal consumption).

Lastly, I don't think Moses (or Solomon) would be pleased.

I bet that water got pretty nasty. Think about the tub ring. Yuck!
