It's PR. Does Russ know Norte Dame is not owned by the Vatican? It's owned by the state of France. The catholic church was just a tenant in the building.

Anyways seems to be the trend these days showing the LDS church leaders rubbing shoulders with world leaders. Probably more accurately seeking a photo op so they can paste it on Facebook.
