To be brutally honest, I don't think I would classify this fairly unique assemblage of personalities a "social media platform." But I was serious about the moderation, which I do not kick against. Without moderation, yes, we could easily descend into 'social media platformation'. <shiver!>
But if photos were ever allowed, it definitely would become a very lame social media platform. Well, in my opinion.
This statement "You have to force a radical transformation of the business model of internet platforms," venture capitalist Roger McNamee told the House of Commons privacy and ethics committee Tuesday morning."
would seem to exclude RfM given the "business model" here.
It's a sad indictment of politicians when they are more concerned with censoring free expression on social media than data harvesting. RfM is not a data harvesting website which is a good case against it being social media.
Also a distinct lack of silly images losted by members - another bonus!
And I'm hoping that most Reddit subreddits are as fierce about 'nothing off topic!' as r/exmormon, so that it wouldn't be considered a social media platform.
I'm thinking he's talking about Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and that ilk. ...maybe...
I personally don't consider message boards to be social media. I consider social media to be things like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter which are more focused on personal expression and communication.
I wouldn't consider it such, but that's just me. Social media tends to be a place for people to show off poctures of their vacations, food, children and cars... and to post lots of passive aggressive memes about people being "toxic" if they don't agree with you.
This board is very old school. It's pre-social media which I like.
