It's only a matter of time before the church starts printing rainbow flags with printed slogans saying something like "Mormons: friends of gays and lesbians since 1830."
If you can't beat 'em, jump in front and act as if you lead 'em.
The Mormons have arrived with great fanfare and hoopla--and it's too little too late, as always.
It would never occur to Mormons to respectfully donate money directly to the cause, and do it quietly. Let the charity decide what to buy with the money. Oh no, the flags and publicity give the cult more bang for the buck.
I'm tired of the Mormons using other causes in order to promote themselves.
...or else Dallin Oaks will enter your home in the middle of the night and electro-shock any Gay you might have in you, right the hell out! And it won't be pretty, unless you like to see 'snarling'.
I have a friend from highschool who is not LDS, she has one of these flags in front of her house and posted it on face book. I have about 25 facebook friends who are former high school classmates and about half of them liked this or made positive comments about sending a message to gay youth in Utah.
It seems to me most members of the Church have at least one gay Uncle, father, son, daughter, cousin, best friend or at least someone they know well and have been uncomfortable for many years with the Church's activities like Prop8, Prop22, Hawaii etc etc etc. I don't think it's a fad of approval, I think it's real feeling of support coming out of the woodwork.
The far right authoritarian mormons will take a little longer of course.
