In reading the below link I saw these two statements.

"He [Holland] estimated that perhaps a third of general authority discussion time is spent reviewing some needs of the young people, some program or principle that affects a child from home or Primary up through missions and university studies."

"Meanwhile, a sizable percentage of “Generation Zs” are lonely and/or unhappy with their bodies — prompting unhealthy weight-control behaviors."

https://www.thechurchnews.com/leaders-and-ministry/2019-06-12/elder-holland-seminary-institute-teach-with-power-and-authority-50116

So, in all his "fire" and seerstone preaching Holland admits that the needs of young people are his concern and that they are into unhealthy food behaviors. This from the leader of an organization which rules Utah. That state, Utah, which has turned soda pop drinking into a statement possibly because the population of Mormons can't do like unto "the world" and tote an expensive café latte cappuccino kind of drink around.

These same general authorities took lots of time an efforts to implement a terrible policy for children of gay parents and reversed it in a handful of years, yet they can't do anything about "unhealthy weight-control behaviors."

Here's “Generation Zs”'s sign. The church isn't going to help them do anything more than "spiritually" burn to death, burn out, or burn their church to the ground when they reach their 80s and are in control!

Dirty sodas are disgusting. The worst part is that they serve it in extremely large portions. Around 1500+ calories for a sugary, syrupy mess?

Even if a few GAs are somewhat enlightened, the Q15 operates by consensus so overcoming institutional inertia is going to be difficult. It seems that God likes to keep things challenging by putting the least among us in leadership positions.

TSCC’s best hope for survival is to slowly adopt spiritual practices and principles from other religions. That’s what Joseph would do. Buy-in isn’t a problem when you have a living prophet. Mormonism is all about a personal relationship with God. They should concentrate on that instead of pharisaical rules.

Social rules were extremely popular in the 1950s, when the GAs came of age. This ain’t the 1950s.

I think Mormonism might have finally jumped the shark and become an attractive belief system for people wanting to stay in a time of boring, rule following, slow creeping towards eternal death with those whose misery they match in yearning for some kind of absolute zion of predictable and consistent prejudice and conformity.

Young Mormons might stay until middle age but I think their religion being ruled by the tails in their crypt ever shifting and adjusting to keep their conservative traditionalism upright in a tilting world is becoming more and more distasteful regardless of the inertia of numbers.
