He believes god is singularity, which means we are all one and therefore we ought to treat each other with love and kindness.
Why not?

Love and kindness are good things, regardless of any perceived connection to some ambiguous notion of "oneness" based on some concocted belief in a supernatural "singularity".

Like Hwint said above, "oneness", is nothing new.
Confuscious, Buddha and Lao Tzu were saying the same thing 600 years before Christ. I think what Brand is saying is that oneness is the same thing as the 'unified field', singularity, consciousness, love. Which leads him to say we're all one.
It's not really an ambiguous notion. I think he articulates it pretty well in 5 minutes.

Kind of like Einstein said,

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”

I give him credit for at least trying hedonism.

I watched his YouTube video last night and found it amusing.

And admirable. There is nothing wrong with believing in God. Russell notes that not to believe leaves nothing to believe in but nihilism. And he chooses to find meaning even if it's in an imaginary being, but he believes there is a God whether there is or not.

I like the way he thinks. Living by love and treating others with love and kindness is the higher law. If believing in God makes him a better person and a happier one, then God love him!

Life is ultimately what you make of it. Making a big mess is optional. Belief in God is a practical matter. If you have to live in your body, and who doesn’t, belief in a transcendent higher power helps with that. That certain religions abuse that belief is a separate issue.

A while ago I threatened to boycott Russell Brand for something he was very opinionated about. But then he has done an about face since then so I can now high five him.

Maybe there is such a thing as redemptive love which he speaks about?

He is making a series of YouTube videos I've noticed, to develop a sort of a following on the YouTube channel. At a minimum he has name recognition and star power.

Curious what the future holds for Russell Brand in his stars?!?!
