told me today that I should have studied more, because he's always known that the word Mormon is neither appropriate nor correct for members of the churchofjesusch...
What do you think Wendy’s nicknames for Rusty are?
And just for kicks, what nicknames has he come up with for her?
Given that the ghawds invented by humanity all seem to have within them the same capacity for capriciousness as their creators, the use of nicknames doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary. A point of view shared by EVERY prophet since the purported restoration.
It is logical that the next prophet will leave the Internet changes in place, but will slowly work ”mormon” back into the vernacular. I'd bet a gallon of gas that I'm right, and since I'm in California, that is big money!
Just to make sure the world falls in line, MomoCo (?) somehow prevailed upon the New York Times to reprint several days ago, "'Mormon' No More", on the front page (now off):
He ought to have advised the one & only ET Benson. Here's ETB singing "I'm a Mormon Boy" at Apr 1989 GenCon. The YT channel is a *faithful* mormon channel.
Tell him that the idiot Joseph Smith should have given the Book of Mormon a different name, like "A Testament of Christ in the Americas" or something like that. Instead he named it after the guy who supposedly abridged the plates. His name was "Mormon", and the nickname that will forever be associated with CoJCoLDS. It also didn't help that the original name of the church was too long to remember.
Members used to be proud to be called "Mormons." Their choir was known as the Mormon Tabarnacle choir, or "Motab" for years. It is world renowned. The books, Mormon Doctrine and Especially For Mormons were books that just about every Mormon family had. "Mormon" wasn't an evil work in the past. Not long ago Mormons were proudly proclaiming "I'm a Mormon" all over social media.
How appropriate and correct is it to blindly agree with every half baked idea your cult leader comes up with? Because it makes the people-who-used-to-call-themselves-Mormon look stupid.
From McConkie's "Mormon Doctrine," p. 512, MORMONISM:
"To the fullness of the everlasting gospel, revealed anew in this final dispensation, the world has given the nickname 'Mormonism.' This name – conferred upon the beliefs and doctrines of the saints and used by its original coiners as an opprobrious epithet – is in no sense offensive to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints."
And p. 513, MORMONS:
"Accordingly, unofficially and by way of nickname, members of this restored Church have become known as 'Mormons,' a name which is in no sense offensive or objectionable to them."
