The article neglected to mention that a bunch of prophets that came after BY also were told by God that black people were not to be given the PH or let into the temple. They made it seem like it was only BY, and that it was just a common cultural thing of his day.

It looks like everyone is willing to just let go of the past and to ignore the fact that for several generations, the mormon church was a very racist institution. They taught their members to be racists. But now, all is forgiven. How is that fair and honest?

This is a deep issue that the leaders won't seriously analyze. Why they discriminated. The thing is that they are intelligent men, the mormon church has always been run by bright men, they aren't backwoods, redneck, and they have never celebrated the confederacy. The older generations did things for a reason but we can't have that discussion now. It's too disturbing to have. So the GAs pretend that it's because of BY. He's an easy scapegoat because so many people don't like him. And it get's them (GAs) off the hook.

mormondom can't overcome it's legacy on race until people are ready to have that frank ugly discussion on culture and race. The elephant in the room.

Gay is the new black. You can see the old mentality about blacks in the current treatment of gays. TSCC makes lines in the sand and everyone pretends they mean something. That’s how this game works. Righteous thinking requires someone else to be wrong in order for you to be right. TSCC designates wrong ways of being in order to feel right about existing.

Born black? Must be something wrong with you. Born gay? Must be something wrong with you. The science doesn’t agree? The science must be wrong, we’re in the last days, Satan is deceiving them, blah blah.

And then fear is stoked about danger and impending victory of "the other/evil" over "The Good" and monies collected, an insurance scam if you will.

Without an enemy, the institution disintegrates - which is why when directly attacked, the LDS get stronger in cohesiveness.
It's victimthink on steroids looking for an enemy to oppose - for these need an "enemy" to survive at all. Otherwise they turn upon each other.
