In light of the recent conference, I was wondering if anyone remembers the April Conference of 2008. Monson was sustained by many as a prophet, seer, and revelator and the new President of the Church.

In a thoughtful touch probably suggested by Packer, any members watching at home or anywhere else were instructed to raise their arms to the square to sustain Monson. I think I missed that session, but does anyone recall that event, and does anyone formerly in the church recall actually doing it? That seems like the type of intrusive request and thoughtless compliance that I'd be happy to see receding in the rearview mirror.

Also never for me. I'm proud to say I've not watched a session of conference since 1997.

I followed a discussion on that topic and there was a guy saying he rose his arm to sustain even when he is alone in a room because Gawd will see it... I was with a family once and they encouraged their preschool and kindergarten ch5ikdren to sustain the leaders although it was a few hours ago recording.... well ... thats odd in so many many ways

These clowns will hang on to power as long as they can because if they let go, someone will run right over them, and their family.

So much power, prestige and money is held by the major leaders of TSCC.

In reading some of the comments to the articles about the no votes, some people said they were at home raising their arms to the square, when they heard the no votes.

I did. Stood up in my living room with my right arm to the square along with all the RS sisters. Face Palm.

That's funny! I drove my the church on my way to coffee both GC mornings and flipped the bird at the building.

I was visiting the Moridor last summer. Every Temple and Cult building I could see from the freeway I flipped off.

I still wave and salute the ones in Southen Alberta regularly.

But it only counts if you bring your arm to the square when you flip the bird. :P

I flipped off Joseph Fielding Smith in person, from about 20 feet, in the SLC mission home, with my Left Hand, the Devil Hand!!

It was "on accident" but I still cherish the memory!

Eventually the rest of my body caught up with what my Devil Hand had already figured out.
