They probably have some kind of light source from Kolob called a Kokaubeam Mini that provides them with all the Celestial nurshiment they need. Just waiting until they are discovered!

Interesting theory, but...

I still think the "flash-frozen popsicles" theory is your best bet.

We know they're supposed to come down from the north.

We know that their return will be facilitated by melting ice.

That means that there are about 97,400 Ten Tribe popsicles somewhere in the remote northern areas above the arctic circle. They may even be inside an iceberg.

They live inside the Earth to escape the psychic pollution. Their spaceships use mountain entrances convenient to the continent. This is not to be confused with the church’s mountain vault. Russell flies a measly private jet, and not into the vault. Not that I would mind.
