Prospective members must learn of the cult by “grace” not by reasoning or conscious process.
Many organizations proselytize extensively. They tell the contact that they have been sent, inspired, to their door to give them the true word.
Even if the contact has filled out a form it was still by divine intervention that the prosyliter arrives at the door.
This is one of the main indicators that you are dealing with a cult operation
Cults try to avoid the member taking credit for discovering the cult by their own initiative because members should be separated from their sense of self determination in order to be fully indoctrinated.
Join because you feel good about it not because it makes sense.
To allow the member to believe that they sought or just stumbled onto the organization without divine intervention undermines the control power of the cult.
One of the methods used is “God led me to your doorstep” approach
Knock knock knock
You answer the door and are greeted with
“God led me to your doorstep. Would you like to know why?
“No!”
“Okay I'll tell you.
Sound like Honest Charlie's Used car lot? What the missionary, or preacher, or prosyliter, is all about is selling. They are selling memberships in their organization and by divine coincidence they are at your door! Yes you are the prospective customer. This approach is also known as tracting. An area or “tract” is chosen. This area is then inundated With salesmen/missionaries who go door to door trying to sell their product, their religion, to whomsoever will listen.
Quite commonly the sales person truly truly believes that they have been divinely sent to the prospect's door, The customer – prospect-mark-whatever, must never be allowed to believe it was anything but divine intervention that led the salesperson to their door.
So how do the cults start this?
First they carefully select their sales force.
Above average height slender males and cute but not overly beautiful females.
Then they thoroughly investigate each one and send the possible ones to an intense isolated training camp.
There they are intensely indoctrinated to believe they hold a high and holy calling.
Once they have completed this training they are set loose on an unsuspecting population to sell their product.
All of this is done so that when they have blocked out your area and systematically knocked on your door in sequence you are expected to believe that they have been specifically led to you!
In fact many missionaries from whatever cult truly believe that every time the talk to someone the will listen to them that they have been specifically sent to that person's door!
