Were most or many students and teachers Mormons at the El Rancho high school in Las Vegas when you were a student there?Was there time for mormon seminary there as in Utah?Were any Mormon students getting in to hot water with Mr Bitz,or just non Mormons ?Was Mr Bitz a mormon?

It’s called Rancho High, not El Rancho.

The mormon students were a very tiny minority.

Seminary was of the early morning variety.

Mr. Bitz was not mormon and he was without prejudice as a disciplinarian.

I was a mormon ‘missionary’ in the Mexican Mission from 1965 to 1967. It’s in quotes because I was not a believer.

    Answer: I don't know. I left in 1965 and have only been back to visit my family. I don't speak to a single TBM in Las Vegas and haven't since that year. I did not give a homecoming talk when I returned and in all these years only the Davis family made an attempt to contact me, just before Marva died.

    Answer: As to the current population breakdown, no way would that 1/6th all be active. And growing up, being a mormon was not a big deal. Some people were Catholic, others Methodist, etc. The only 'mormon' comments came from a couple of TBM-mothers trying to convince their daughters that me being a Lamanite was bad juju.

    Answer: Purely a guess 57-1/2 years later: he would have threatened me with expulsion and I would have chosen the paddle over expulsion because mom was getting tired of coming down to the school to sign me back in.
