A communal French society moved into Nauvoo after the LDS left. One thing they started making there was wine. Wine cellars were even made from stone from the Nauvoo temple ruins.

Has anyone tried Wines from Nauvoo?

Well, I have heard about the whine coming from Nauvoo, and mormonism in general!

My wife and I were in Nauvoo in 2001 and stayed overnight. We had dinner in the local hotel dining room, and ordered a bottle of the local red, of which the non-Mormon locals are very proud. We had to chuckle at the nasty looks we got from the other diners (obviously faithful Mormons visiting the sacrred places). The waiter was happy to see someone order wine.

It was OK wine, nothing exceptional.
