If my daughters were released they would be crushed. They are both halfway through. But I don't understand. Why not release them and keep the greenies? It isn't like there is knowledge transfer or anything. Although I do have to say my kids have had longer periods in areas than I did on average and they've told me that they have to have I believe a companion with at least a couple of months in an area before they transfer.

They’re not releasing greenies. They’re releasing those that have been out at least a year and a half. They probably figure that’s long enough to indoctrinate them. Many are “trunky” their last 6 months anyhow.(that’s an old missionary term that means sitting on trunk(suitcase), all ready to head home. It’s clear that they’re planning to reduce the number of missionaries for the time being.

THAT WOULD BE A MIRACLE!!

Why would the church have a policy of releasing men and women at different times from their respective missions? It's not like the virus puts men at risk more than women (if the virus is the cause of the early releases). If the pandemic is not the cause of early mission releases, what is the cause? There is always a reason. When they don't give you the reason, it's because they don't want you to know what the reason is. Perhaps the pandemic is an excuse to make otherwise wanted changes. Maybe the surge from a few years ago gave them information that says 'fewer missionaries is better'.

It's not sexism, it's business, practice, numbers.

Boys: longer, for "conversion". Girls: shorter, for marriage purposes.

It's ALL about 1 + 1 = nothing but time, talent, tithing...
