You mentioned "perhaps even the Temple". If you don't attend church regularly they won't renew your temple recommend.Although I never made it to a temple recommend myself that's my understanding.
I'd *love* to be able to dictate anyone's actions.
I'd borrow glitter from EOD and fashion a magic wand. Then I'd walk around, "boop boop boop" as I lightly tapped each person on the head, pirouettes added for extra zing.
Deciding not to attend after they announce the cancellation of all services is all well and good, but kind of redundant. It does make following through on your decision a piece of cake! :)
I left the church thirty years ago, but it wasn't COVID-19 that drove me away. The disease was different then. The disease was false mormon priesthood and priesthood leader exercising of so-called authority which was false and damaging to my life. I got over it, built a healthy resistance to it, and haven't been vexed by it since.
Not to downplay your attendance but I'm loving my wife not attending. Our kids and her mom keep getting after her to insist someone brings the sacrament to her and she keeps ignoring them! Yeah!
Man. Isn't it going to be great when this is over and you can get back on those pews and be told what to do? Must be hell having to wing it through life trying to be a good person on your own.
And those fascinating talks from pulpit---Every one so different and unique and inspiring! All things we have never heard before. Where else can you learn so much?*
And I can't even imagine the pain of the withdrawal of cleaning the chapel. I feel for you.
*Actually a lot of people here can give you a very long list if it ever comes to that.
You are free from cleaning church toilets PHIL as an unpaid janitor. Never look back. Never look back. I actually remembered a memory of sitting on those hard fold-out chairs in a meeting back in the day as a kid. I do not miss it but its amazing what my mind blocked out growing up.
