If two people went to the south pole and the first stood in a few inches away from the official marker on a cirle with a 24 inch circumference he'd be merely traveling one inch an hour.
His buddy steps just few more feet away where his circle is 24 yards in circumference. He's traveling one yard an hour or 36 times faster than his friend.
You have to turn your brain inside out to think about this stuff
You have to think of all these things, which after all are "matter," as moving really slowly, in comparison to the speed of light (186,000 mps or about 670 million miles per hour in a vacuum)
The speed of light is really the "standard" or baseline speed of the cosmos. When it slows down, you get matter, apparently in individual pieces or units like atoms, planets, etc.
Just another way of lookin' at stuff
Ultimate of course there is nothing but energy. Slow it down and we get "stuff."
