It has occurred to me that by "the peanuts" Opie meant to ask, 'what if the local members were free to run their ward as they chose?'

I suppose that the peanuts are seen as respecting continuing revelation, but are allowed to interpret it per their respective needs.

I'll play. This is on the ward level for the most part --

Lucy -- the ruthless RSP President. Mess with her at your peril.
Charlie Brown -- the hapless former EQ member. He was always tasked with donating his pickup truck for moving, and for church cleaning duty. Everyone takes advantage of him.
Schroeder -- the bishop. Busy and self-involved.
Linus -- Dieter Ebert, the younger member of the Q15. He often has pithy, useful things to say, but no one else in the Q15 ever pays any attention to him.
Pig-Pen -- a "less active" who never quite fits in.
Peppermint Patty -- her parents made her go to BYU, but let's just say that it didn't work out.
Sally -- a social Mormon. She goes with the flow and doesn't worry to much about any of it.
Franklin -- he *really* doesn't fit in.
The Little Red Haired Girl -- Charlie Brown's secret crush. Sadly for him, she is holding out for an RM.
The Great Pumpkin -- the promises of the church as exemplified by the temple.
Snoopy and Woodstock -- happy, carefree, exmos who do their own thing. :)
