I want to see more headlines like this ...

"Kentucky Man Accused Of Breaking Canada's COVID-19 Rules Faces $569,000 Fine"
=============================================

"A Kentucky man accused of breaking Canada's coronavirus rules — twice — could be forced to pay a $569,000 fine ($750,000 Canadian), spend up to six months in prison, or both."

I saw where the maximum fine was C$750,000. I was incredulous, but I asked some friends in Manitoba who confirmed that that was no joke. They wanted to visit their son in the US, but decided not to because they would have to quarantine on return, and breaking quarantine could bankrupt you. The whole trip would have been more aggravation than it was worth.

They decided FaceTime calls were a safer alternative. I should say.

Maybe you can tell that to 170,000 dead people.

180,000.

Yup.
And that doesn't include all the coverups claiming death by "resperatory failure".

Yes. The official data understate the true cost in several ways.

But even if you stick with the official numbers, 180,000 is over three times the American deaths in the Vietnam War and 1.5X the American deaths in World War One.

One day there will be a national memorial to the people who died in the "hoax" of 2020.

Better government in control and COVID under control than COVID out of control and government over concerned with the wrong things.

Bingo, it is an example of government in control. So far Manitoba has had 1,043 cases total for the last 6 months, and 13 deaths over the same period. They intend to keep it that way. They are making sure that there is no doubt about the fact that the quarantine is not negotiable.

The quarantine applies to Canadians and permanent residents. Americans in most cases are simply not allowed in.

It is ironic that a US passport is now one of the most restricted passports in the world. Oy.

My mom is in quarantine at her home. She still works. Her boss went to TX to pick up boss's daughter, and they came back with the COVID. Boss went to work with a fever and said it was...

DUE TO STRESS

So far Mom's okay. Once the quarantine business is over, she's going to be tested at the county because no one knows if her health insurance will pay for it.

There are some cases at an assisted living center near my home. My friend went out for the day, and they wouldn't let her back in for two days, so that was fun. :/

Oh! And a friend is stuck in the lower forty-eight. He went on vacation last October. He and his wife had just retired. They bought a one-ton truck and a travel trailer and drove from Alaska to Arkansas, and then boom!

Their daughter who lives in WA caught the virus and she almost died. She's still suffering the residuals.

My friend is traveling from here to there until Canada will let them drive through to AK. Meanwhile their home flooded while they were away.

I think they're in MT right now.

Your friends should be able to travel through Canada now. As I understand it, people who are Alaska residents or others who can prove a need to travel to Alaska are admitted into Canada at one of 5 (or 7, I forget) border crossings. They are expected to travel through with minimal stops, and must follow designated routes depending on the border crossing they used. They are given a tag to display in their vehicle indicating they are in transit and must report at a designated Canada Customs post at the Alaska border by a certain date.

All of this is down to people who have entered Canada, stated they were on the way to Alaska and then had themselves a holiday in Banff and Jasper instead. The guy in the article was caught once and then just blew it off. I doubt he’ll have to pay a huge fine like that, but people should be dinged pretty hard for so blatantly breaking the law.

Thanks. Yeah - she seems fine. Now there's a question of whether she is going to be paid. Good times.

Well I'm currently in Colorado here in Aspen on Holiday, and it's like the Nazis have taken over the place, I'm not kidding. Rules everywhere all over.
Big signs saying "put on your mask now, damit!" (without the damit). the libraries are closed, they putting books in Quarantine if they
get touched by dirty fingers. Even outside it's expected to wear these masks, People riding bikes with masks, And lots of closed down,
businesses like the banks, restaurants, They won't let you sit down in the McDonalds!

I'm so glad I live in Utah, where we just don't live by all the rules. We don't judge and get all in other peoples business about 'the rules.'
Utahn's are surviving very well with the least restricted situation. Our economy and jobs numbers are top in the nation. We believe in freedom.
Colorado sucks big time!

Wow again. Still got those Zion curtains?

I can haz stats and sources, pls? This is more of a curiosity thing. I'd be pleased to know that Utah is doing well. Think the COB might be giving the state a shot in the arm? No, not a vaccine, silly!

You say "it's like the Nazis". You don't know much about the Nazis, do you? The effects of their regime were not just a few annoying rules. Millions died.

You seem to me to be a rather silly person, macaRomney.

No, I’m silly. It’s a way of life and I have to work at it. I’m not always successful, but it’s my calling.

Maca is more in the Vapid Narcissist category. There’s a lot of that going around, but fortunately not on RfM.

Of course, I’m just being silly again...

I just got back from several days in Colorado and didn't notice anything overly restrictive. I did notice people mostly wearing their masks but lots of bar hopping, etc. By about 7 pm or after, almost no one was wearing masks. I stayed in my AirBNB, completely socially distanced.
