They are clearly ineffective.

Well, they had an effect--just not a good one.

Maybe there will be extenuating circumstances found in the investigation. On its surface, it looks like a real WTF moment.

I know the SLC mayor worked really hard to get the job last year. Between covid, businesses closed, police issues, protesters, and many hundreds of trees and branches down last night, the phrase "be careful what you wish for" comes to mind. Oy.

Thanks Bradley. When an OP doesn't title or discuss the topic (on a fuzzy link), I look to the youniverse or use telepathy, or the back button...

When 911/ cops are called, or just show up, something might happen. Calling the police is giving up your own power to control the situation. They may, control, kill, escalate... Not always safe to call the police, as we see all the time! Tend the situation people. Tend it yourself! Take care of one another. 'nuff tragedies.

Speration anxiety? I've got that! Who I'm gonna call? Myself. I bust ghosts.

I (former cop) am wondering if the SL cops have & are trained with tasers or other non-lethal instruments.

de-escalation training should be mandatory but isn't always appropriate for mental situations and/or a subject with (access to) weapons.
