Monoliths and Mysteries and Obelisks, Oh my!

Whelp, there’s a monolith just found in Romania, and now one has been discovered on top of Pine Mountain in Atascadero, California.
What in the world is going on?
This inquiring mind wants to know...

Now we have a shiny monolith in Alaska, and one on the Isle of Wight; a couple of bears in Alaska seem to think theirs is cool.
It’s an interesting diversion for someone with a lot of time on their hands; they don’t look too difficult to construct.
