I guess I'm not much of a baseball fan.

No need to be a baseball fan to admire Hank Aaron.

Hank Aaron was a great American and a wonderful human being.

Rest in peace Hank.

He played for the best team that ever existed.

Milwaukee Brewers.

Aaron was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. Got to see him play a few times against the Dodgers. He certainly did not deserve the harassment he endured (hate mail, death threats, need for FBI protection) while chasing Babe Ruth's home run record.

It was a thrill to meet him later in life as an adult. Kind, polite, gracious, classy guy. RIP "Hammerin' Hank".

Let me explain how this works. Nobody knew he died until today because he hadn't died yet. There is nothing even remotely remarkable about not knowing someone has died, until they have died. Yet you remark on it, and this is not the first time. It causes mild eyerolls.

May I suggest "Hank Aaron died", and just leave off the "I didn't know that" part. I was surprised he was still alive. If asked, I would have guessed he died some years ago.

I expect to see a photoshopped picture of Bernie Sanders in mittens sitting next to Hank Aaron any minute now.

Just read something cool about Aaron -

He passed away on 1/22/21. 1+22+21 = 44, Hank's uniform number.

Something NOT cool - 10 Baseball Hall of Famers have passed away in the past 10 months

Hank Aaron
Lou Brock
Whitey Ford
Bob Gibson
Al Kaline
Tommy Lasorda
Joe Morgan
Phil Niekro
Tom Seaver
Don Sutton

Protect Willie Mays (89 years old)!!

That's some numbers, and some names...

AND, that's Only Baseball...

Then there are artists, musicians, writers, actors, activists, movers and shakers...

Thanks for the numbers
