How many members can there possibly be in the pacific island locations where new temples were announced?

Kiribati has a population of 119,000
Vanuatu has a population of 300,000

I wonder if the church will build hotels or other facilities nearby?

Who will wear temple garments in the tropical heat?

Has anyone told these folks they are no longer the children of Lehi?

Do they share the depth of membership that Tonga has? I think one of the church strategies is to consolidate membership where it is already strong.

I can't help but speculate that rather than membership populations, they focus on "do we have missionaries there?" and "We want to invest as little as possible to make as much as possible."

Actually, I'm not speculating...

These thoughts were whispered to me by Holy McGhost. What a gal!

It doesn't matter how many members are there. Just as long as they have enough to have the temple open sometimes. It can be counted as charitable spending and they can keep operating tax-free as a church. It also benefits them because it accrues real-estate value for the church.

Same reason why Scientology essentially owns Clearwater FL, and a bunch of nearly always empty community Outreaches (centers).

Church claims 10,210 in Vanuatu and 20,946 in Kiribati

as always, one can question the reliability of church supplied numbers.
