Hubert Humphrey, Walter Mondale and Paul Wellstone were the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost of Minnesota politics. All were deeply respected there, now the last one is gone. Maybe it is just because I lived in or near MN for decades and was more familiar with it than other states, but I can’t think of any other state where I could reel off three names that were such prefect avatars for their state. The end of an era.
