Maybe I'm behind the times, but Mormon-Owned Marriott has a new CEO for these last few months. Guy's name is Anthony Capuano.

I'm only recently exMo but I've never heard of the guy. You know he's got to be a GA somewhere, but where? Not in the Q15 certainly but he's got to be at least a Seventy. Why haven't I heard of him?

No. The firm is not owned by the LDS church. J Willard was an active member, but the official church never had anything to do with the corporation.

While the Marriott family maintains majority ownership, Marriott International is a global, publicly traded corporation. Bill Marriott is executive chairman, Anthony Capuano is CEO, Stephanie Linnartz is President and Kathleen K. Oberg is CFO.

Capuano is a Cornell graduate. Linnaritz went to Holy Cross, Norwegian School of Economics & Business Administration, and William & Mary. Oberg went to University of Virginia, Darden School of Business, and Stanford. While none of that excludes them from being Mormons, those aren't typical LDS education paths.

You don't become the largest corporation in the hotel and hospitality industry if your primary guiding principle is, "What's the proper Mormon way to do this?" They had in-room porn for decades, after all. No, the main thing is, "How can we make more money?"

I see Marriott as being not that different from any other business. They're operating to make money, not to do continuous garment checks.

Just saw an article that he is interim CEO, a new one will be selected in the coming weeks. And who cares if he's mormon? That has nothing to do with how the company or hotels are run.

I used to travel a lot for my job, Marriott Hotels were always nice. I lived in one all summer in Huntington beach back in 2000.

Yep, that was me alright! One day, I shall return....with honor no less!! The question is....will you be ready? And the other question is....is that Mexican restaurant that I went to for lunch and ate fish taco's and drank beer still there?

Probably before they changed the operating goalposts as they typically do. Have a Marriott card that builds points when you use it. Have enough points for 4 nights plus two free nights for signing up each year. With sky high prices I am unable to use any of them. Nothing in the published information about that. Don't get me started on their timeshare program.

Pretty great time, I would think, with the price gouging going on.
