Just read this article but noticed the photo is of somebody holding a sign that reads "My body my choice". This whole argument is getting into some weird area. I'll bet a lot of same people are totally against abortion.

What they don't get is other people have a choice not to be around them.


I think it was BoJ who wrote the other day that there is no law that says you have to get a passport, but you cannot go to another country without one. My favorite analogy. The other country doesn't want you without one. That is their choice.

Your right to swing your arm ends where my nose begins. An anti-vaxxer's right to breathe ends where my lungs begin.

So these anti-vaxxers have many choices. Sanity or idiocy. Renegade or team player. Science or Politics. (Used to be science or belief but its been downgraded.)

Re passport. Canada's border is open to Americans again but only with a valid passport, confirmation of being fully vaxxed, submitted only through the Canada app on your cell phone, a negative CV test 72 hrs ahead & a second negative test done upon arrival.

So, welcome! But only if you're not a threat to us. In any way.

Imho this is a place where body autonomy breaks down. You're not really in control of what microbes you breath in the open or public. You're not in control of what microbes you shed or exhale.

So you have to accept those further external control, limited as some are, both to protect yourself and others: masks, distance, vaccines. Your metaphorical fist is swinging wildly out of control otherwise.

Especially - see the mention above about how people who became infected with the AIDS virus were not aware they were contracting it or that they had it or that they could transmit it to others.

We absolutely definitely do know about COVID-19 and how it is contracted and how it is transmitted. And if people don't follow the experts' recommendations to curb transmission of CV then they **are** knowingly potentially transmitting a preventable illness that proves deadly to many.

An epidemic (AIDS) where it took many years for the cause to be uncovered. A pandemic (COVID-19) where we knew early on what was up. Please tell us how you think they are alike.

If magaRomney read before he spoke, he'd know that AIDS entered the human species in the late 1920s and spread due to 1) the reuse by hospitals and medical clinics of needles for various injections in some cases hundreds of times, 2) the construction of railroads in eastern Zaire, and 3) civil war, which dislodged massive numbers of people and sent them into west Africa.

The disease then spread to Cuba, NYC, and Paris, where it was established as early as 1959. By the time the virus was identified and named (a process that went through several iterations) decades later, it was already well-established in Europe and the United States. No anti-gay policies in the 1980s in San Francisco would mitigated its emergence as an epidemic, for it had achieved that status while no one was looking.

Plus when AIDS was finally identified, condom use, an effective way to prevent the spread, was widely adopted. Not universally, but compare to mask resistance and covid. In any case, AIDS was brought under control, even without benefit of a vaccine.
