I just read an ominous news story about the fires in B.C.--which sounded like the fires are kinda nearby.
As someone who grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, I know that wildfire-related news stories can sometimes "feel" closer than they actually are....and I also think a check-in right now would be appropriate.
Is everyone here who is affected by the Canadian fires safe?
Have you been warned to be ready to evacuate if it becomes necessary?
If so, do you have your pets, and your legal and financial papers, and your irreplaceable photos and life memorabilia, ready to walk out the door?
As a veteran of a lifetime of "be ready to evacuate" official orders (from both wildfires and earthquakes), I am really empathizing with you right now.
I know the fires may be "far distant" in your minds, but I grew up helping to pack papers and photos (etc.) in suitcases, so we (as a family) could walk out the door and drive away immediately if it became necessary.
That kind of "training" (from pre-kindergarten on) tends to stick with you for the rest of your life.
Are you all okay?
