the organization is so totally obsessed with comtolling the mind and will of the members that all other isues become secondary.
I find that their control of the sexual activities of the members borders on paranoia!
Is it that they do not want any member to have a thought that is not controlled by the ecclesiatical heirarchy?
Or is it just that that is the way a cult operates?

I think the most dangerous of the sins isn't on the "seven deadly" list--it's the desire for power. Or, as you termed it, control. The ability, or power, to control others. I think all the other ones (gluttony, lust, envy, avarice, wrath/anger, sloth, and--of course--pride) are subordinate to power, either contributing to it, or deriving their evil from it.

Control of sex? throw in diet, apparel, behavior, etc. etc. All subordinate to "power."

You're on to something, Desert-Wratte-1.

When your ego and your day-to-day living both depend on a group of individuals doing what you say, the above analogy is definitely your favorite.

Too bad we couldn't have gotten religions to go with the Coach-Player analogy; that would have been a lot more entertaining!

We do know that JoJu, following a long line of examples, also liked the "lay down, ghawd and I love you" format.
