It’s all fake but we built something worth saving

It’s kind of fun watching the church try and put lipstick on a pig and polish a turd. They are using every psychological Jedi mind trick possible to make the members think it’s worth staying.

Joseph Smith was a sexual predator and the official church narrative is questionable but we have a good thing going here. Stick with it.

People do not want to think they will die. The church is dangling the promise of eternal life in the hereafter as a carrot. People want it to be true so they follow along.
